Beyond the Bell

Beyond the Bell360 is Thrive 360's after-school program for sixth through ninth graders, operating from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, at the ROC, First Baptist Church's Recreation Outreach Center.

The program is intended to lead and guide young people toward success. Students receive help with homework and in learning to make healthy choices. Another component provides leadership development in hopes of creating a clear roadmap to success in high school and beyond. Eighth graders will be mentored in being prepared for the transition into high school.

Other aspects include separate programs mentoring young men and women to be upstanding citizens: Young Ladies with Purpose, and the Inner Man. Classes will also be offered teaching dance, theater and music.

Following Beyond the Bell, Thrive360's Fitness360 program offers basketball skill development at the ROC gymnasium in several areas, such as passing, dribbling, shooting and defense. Famed UCLA basketball coach John Wooden's "12 Lessons in Leadership" curriculum is utilized.

Enrollment in Beyond the Bell360 is limited to 40. For more information or to volunteer, contact LaRaslum Williams, program director, at 903-235-9419 or by email: laraslum@pmjcharities.org.
